For this early fetus anything is still possible. All paths and all futures are open to it - like a stem cell it can still become anything. Inevitably, though, it will become more limited as it develops. Cells will lose their ability to become different kinds of cells, the child will lose the ability to choose any future and the adult will struggle with and ultimately fail to overcome the inevitability of death.
